| This analysis is for all those stocks that had an active rating at or immediately prior to the start of year 2001. Performance tracks the price change for a approximately a 1 year period for each stock from its last updated rating just prior to 2001 through to its last update in 2001 or to Dec 31, 2001 for discontinued stocks. On average 2001 performance tracks a period from about Nov 15, 2000 through to Nov 15 2001. Performance of the analysis is outstanding as illustrated by the graph below. The buys/strong buys were up an average 14%, the neutral group is down 10%, There was only 2 Sell ratings and both were down over 60%. Impressively, 25 of 38 companies have moved in the predicted direction. Most of the stocks that moved the “wrong way” were the weak buys and weak sells which is essentially a neutral rating. Excluding the neutrals, 13 of 16 stocks moved in the predicted direction (an amazing 81% batting average). All of this in a year when the TSE was down significantly. | |||||
