January 3, 2017

On the first trading day of 2017, the S&P 500 rose 0.8% and Toronto was also up 0.8%.

Bombardier had a strong day, up 5.6%. I left it rated Sell for the start of this year. It is so far down that it does have potential but it remains a very poorly managed company in an industry that is extremely tough to make money it. I’ll take another look at it after its annual results for 2016 are released.

AutoCanada also had a strong day, up 3.2%.

I established a small position in Visa today and added to my Heineken and Berkshire positions. I also have bids in to add very modestly to most of my positions on drops of around 5%. Possibly I should have set the price at more like a 10% drop but I will go with these and see what happens.
