As anyone, not living off the grid is likely aware, Wednesday was a strong day on the markets with the DOW surmounting the 20,000 level for the first time.

The S&P 500 was up 0.8% and the Dow was up 0.2%.

AutoCanada and Stantec were each up 5.5%.

CN rail was down 2.5% after releasing earnings.

Wells Fargo was up 3.5%.

AltaGas, a once small Alberta utility is buying a utility centered in Washington D.C. for $6.4 billion cash. It’s $8.4 billion Canadian and I believe they are assuming debt on top of that. This is impressive and shows that corporations are not being overly cautious. Altagas is issuing shares and will also issue preferred shares and debt.
